In form, the Nakano Sunplaza is two right triangles pressed against one another. The larger of the two triangles dominates the skyline in this section of Nakano-ku. Its hypotenuse draws the eye upward, making it seem like it is looming over neighboring buildings. The long sides of the buildings are separated from the middle of the building by a deep channel, as if the floor in between are hanging from these frames. It's interesting that the building would be called "Sunplaza" considering how few windows it has. That's because the building's most popular use these days is as a concert venue, where sound is more important than light. Though it is a popular place for concerts, its hall holds just a few thousand people, making for a fairly intimate space in this less-than-intimate city.

> The Nakano Sunplaza Hall can hold 2,222 people.
> 1 June, 1973 - The building opens.
